Seriously, this is ridiculous. People claiming that regulation is bad for the economy and people need to have their heads examined! It's basic logic that enhanced regulation not only forces banks/businesses to adhere to a clear set of rules, but it also REQUIRES more jobs, which REQUIRES hiring more people and DIRECTLY helps to stimulate the economy!
Let me put that in language some of you can understand. Regulations are rules, correct? So, for instance, if you were raising a child, would you have clear and concise rules to put in place to help guide your child in the growing process? If you didn't/don't, you would be an idiot and, basically, a bad parent! Children need to learn discipline, hard work, sharing, caring, all the important things in life. You can't expect your children to grow into responsible adults without structure, rules, guidance, all of the above.
The same goes for corporations/banks. Their main goal is to achieve the most amount of short-term profits with as little cost as possible for shareholders; they are legally required to do so. However, this means that if any of their actions hurts the environment, people, the economy (what are called "the stakeholders", meaning the people/institutions affected by corporate actions), it doesn't matter as long as they're making continuous gains in short term profits. Even if the people running them personally believe in green tech and environmental safety and such, their only focus is profits profits profits. They will cut corners, cheat, lie, whatever it takes to achieve that goal. These types of actions are what led to the financial collapse of '07/'08.
As a result, regulations are necessary to ensure as much as possible that the actions of banks/corporations are not (as) harmful to stakeholders. For instance, they would force the oil industry to abide by a rigorous standard for, say, offshore drilling so that BP disasters don't occur. They force banks to protect consumers by not charging massive penalties for overdrawing on their debit cards. They force factories not to dump waste in local water supplies.
I understand that rules/regulations can be limiting, but they are in place for PROTECTION! That's why we have laws. That's why our government has a checks & balances system. That's why we tell our children "No" when they ask for candy @ the checkout aisle. It is a crying shame that in 2011, we are still having to explain to supposedly educated adults why rules are not only helpful, but LOGICAL!

This is exactly why it's common sense to invest in infrastructure. It is just plain sickening that my home state has so many structural problems with bridges alone! How can we be the greatest country in the world if we don't perform regular upkeep of basic things like our roads and bridges?! That's like me saying I have the best bedroom in the world, despite the fact I have a roach infestation, old, worn out furniture, plates of half-eaten, rotten food strewn about, dirty clothes everywhere, etc. etc. you get the picture. Many people could die if we continue to allow our roads and bridges to further depreciate steadily. I find it funny that we can find the funding to bid for the 2016 Olympic games but we can't seem to find a single cent to fix shit, and on top of all that, WE THE PEOPLE (ya know, those who have been losing jobs, homes, welfare, unemployment benefits, and the like) have to continue to foot the bill for EVERYTHING! I am absolutely shocked that my fellow Illinoisans aren't up in arms ova this shit; WAKE THE FUCK UP PEOPLE!!!!

Honestly, I don't particularly care for this guy's erratic behavior; I think it's a bit too exaggerated for my liking. However, I agree 100% with his beliefs. Conservatives are either crazy, insanely stupid or just plain evil these days. All of their ridiculous policies seem mainly focused on disenfranchising the poor, denying facts/logic/science, controlling people's personal life decisions, destroying/outsourcing American jobs, destroying the environment and, most notoriously, cutting taxes for corporations & the rich. I've cut out so many people from my inner-circle simply because they're so insanely stupid that they support all of these policies because of one wedge issue: religion. I'm SOOOOOO glad that I dropped religion because it was making me so stupid; even when I was a Christian I knew it made very little sense, and the more I learned, the less sense it made until I just had enough of it! The sad thing is that people these days are so stupid and brainless that they allow politicians to manipulate them solely out of their devotion to a fundamentally preposterous, self-contradictory book referencing a non-existent, bi-polar deity gaining less and less credibility every second. If we can't wake these idiots up soon, we may as well consider ourselves doomed!

We seriously need to educate the public to erase the social stigma of (medical) marijuana. It is a miracle drug which is 100x better than everything you can find on pharmacy shelves, non-toxic (you cannot overdose on cannabis but you can drown from drinking too much water) and has very few side effects and can be consumed in numerous yet safe methods! We need to allow very sick individuals to have access to a product which could provide significant help to them, in addition to allowing non-sick people to enjoy the consumption of a plant which is far safer and less toxic than both alcohol and tobacco! Let's help rebuild the economy with job stimulation from canna-business as well as hemp industries!!!!

MaddHouse Recording Studio Rules and Regulations
The MaddHouse home-based recording studio is in constant development. In addition, my schedule is constantly changing as my focus is shifted between numerous projects/prospects and various aspects of my personal life. It seems kind of silly, but as a result of a multi-personnel review, a new set of rules has been developed for security and personal safety purposes. I understand if many of you might not be so keen on some of these new rules; however, they are vital in the fluidity of studio operations. If you disagree with these rules, that’s fine; there are plenty of other studios throughout the Chicago-area. I’m sure they will accommodate you in ways we can’t. We reserve the right to excommunicate all in violation of any of the rules listed below. The rules are as follows:
1.) 1.) Respect the owners and occupants of the home/studio AT ALL TIMES. This is a home-based recording studio, so it is imperative that respect is given to all who occupy it. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” We are allowing you into our home, so it is extremely important that you treat us with respect due unto us and follow the rules set in place. We respect all customers and strive to accommodate your every musical need. However, we reserve the right to excommunicate anyone who lacks any respect thereof.
2.)2.) The studio will now only be available from 9 AM – 9 PM CST Monday thru Friday. I have many different projects as well as a personal life to attend to. In addition, it is difficult to find time to mix down tracks if the studio is constantly active in recording. As a result, times of studio availability have been amended to provide more structure. There will be certain dates and times when the studio will not be available, such as holidays, weekends, special events/occasions, etc. A facebook page will soon be created noting specific times of availability. Always call ahead to verify availability. If you are late/absent for your appointment, we’ll see if we can work something out. Remember, the studio now closes at 9 PM. All paying customers can work out special times with me if needed.
.) 3.) No walk-ins are allowed. I can’t stress this enough. Always call ahead and setup an appointment. There are many customers who would like to work in the studio. I can only cater to one person/group at a time. In addition, the studio may not always be available and I may not always be present @ the time you arrive unannounced. Setting up an appointment is best for all parties involved.
4. 4.) Paying customers ALWAYS have the right of way. Paying customers are at the forefront of this service. As a result, non-paying customers will have to take a backseat. If you are a non-paying customer and you would like to record @ a time that a paying customer wants to record, you will need to choose another time (and date if necessary). If you are a non-paying customer and have set up a time to record, and a paying customer wants that same time to record, we might have to reschedule your appointment. Hey, what can I say? Money talks….
5.)5.) No drinking/smoking is allowed in the studio/house. This is for practical and safety purposes for all who are present. Second-hand smoke is dangerous to all, especially to those who don’t smoke. As a smoker, I empathize with many of you smokers in your distaste for the inability to smoke in the comforts of the studio. However, the owner of the house condemns indoor smoking, so what the owner says goes. This is not to be debated!!!
In addition, alcohol affects many people differently; some people become more relaxed while others become belligerent. I am unwilling to take this risk. While I understand that we are all adults and that drinking can be fun, some people are simply irresponsible in terms of their alcohol consumption. This not only poses a risk to the health and safety of parties involved, but it also poses a risk to the intactness of the equipment. Also, evidence has clearly shown that musicians are at their artistic best in a state of sobriety. I understand that this is the MaddHouse, but this is not a place to party. If you help the MaddHouse grow and obtain an independent shelter, maybe this rule can be amended. However, as it currently stands, it is vital that this rule is respected!

6.)6.) No illegal/illegally obtained substances are allowed in the studio. For security & safety purposes, no illegal substances are allowed. You might indulge in your poisons elsewhere, but here it is unacceptable. We would not like to run the risk of any overdoses, erratic behaviors, violent outbursts, etc. Failure to comply will result in excommunication from the studio.
7.)7.) No weapons are allowed PERIOD. I understand that the studio is located in a dangerous part of the city. I also understand the desire to enact your second amendment rights as an American citizen. However, for safety and security purposes, it is best that weapons are not allowed in the studio. The MaddHouse is a liberal family environment, so it is imperative that this rule is respected. Failure to comply will result in excommunication from the studio and potential notification of law-enforcement if needed.
8.)8.) No fighting/violence are allowed in the studio. Again, the MaddHouse is a family environment. We are all about love and unity, so any disagreements MUST be handled in a civil manner. Failure to comply will result in excommunication from the studio and potential notification of law-enforcement if needed.
9.)9.) Quiet on the set! If you are in the studio and you are not recording, be respectful of those who are! The microphone is a very sensitive microphone; in other words, it can pick up a lot of background noise. Until we acquire enough funds to obtain a recording booth, it is imperative that everyone present remains very quiet so as not to ruin the sound. This includes temporarily silencing your phones and other electronic devices. If you don’t like making crisp, clear, great sounding music, disregard this rule, but don’t complain to me if you don’t like what you hear.
1010.) Please be careful with the equipment! I understand that sometimes you might be clumsy and mistakes might happen. Please try not to be careless with the equipment. NEVER touch/swing/play with the microphone, especially in the process of recording. It ruins the recording with impact noise and can cause potential damage to the microphone, and what’s a studio without a microphone? Think about it this way. When you’re listening to your favorite artists, you will rarely hear microphone feedback or background noise. Everything sounds crisp and clean. Wouldn’t you want your music to sound just as crisp? I’ll admit, my equipment is far from the best, but it definitely doesn’t help if there is any damage to the equipment.

Implications of the Ibanez Case Ruling

The Too Big To Fail banks have been waiting with trepidation for a ruling from the Supreme Judicial Court of the State of Massachusetts on the case titled US Bank National Association (as trustee) vs. Antonio Ibanez. They were right to be fearful. The state supreme court has ruled against the banks and upheld a lower court order that nullified foreclosures by US Bancorp and Wells Fargo, on the grounds that neither bank had the legal right under Massachusetts law to foreclose. Today’s ruling has far-reaching consequences for the banks and the housing market in general, as it throws into serious question the legal soundness of millions of mortgages in the US if, as expected, courts in other states come to similar conclusions as the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts.
The Ibanez case tied together two separate but similar foreclosure actions in Massachusetts, the second case being that of Wells Fargo vs. Mark and Tammy LaRace. Both foreclosures took place on the same day, the banks having previously published their intention to foreclose in a local newspaper as required by law. The banks then purchased the properties at prices described by the court as significantly below market value. About a year after the foreclosures (in autumn of 2008) the banks then applied to the local Land Court for a ruling that in each foreclosure, the bank had full legal right to foreclose as mortgagee, that the bank title to the property was “unclouded” by any other contesting right, and that the bank therefore owned the property in what is legally known as “fee simple” status. These claims were contested by the property owners who had lost their homes in the foreclosure, and the Land Court agreed with the homeowners that the foreclosures had been invalid. Critical to the decision of the Land Court was the fact that both banks admitted that they did not receive assignment of the mortgage to the property until after the foreclosure.

Hip Hop Album Sales: The Week Ending 1/9/2011 via HipHopDX
My Thoughts:
This list, especially the top 10 (shown above), is very peculiar for numerous reasons. Kanye West's album is the only one on the list given PERFECT scores by various media sources. However, it is only @ number 7, behind Nicki Minaj & Bruno Mars' debuts, Eminem's triumphant follow up to "Relapse" and Rihanna's generally favorable Loud.
Nicki Minaj received widely mixed reviews for her PF; however, I believe that its uniqueness in sound, content and gender-representation are @ the core of its success. In addition, for Eminem to still be in the Top 10 SEVEN MONTHS after his album was released is unprecedented! It's extremely rare these days, considering piracy, the declining music industry, constantly changing trends, etc. This is the mark of a true artist, which is strangely not surprising for the best-selling artist in the past decade. (To be honest, I prefer Eminem's older material to his new stuff, but he is, indeed, still the man)
Bruno Mars' DW&H was heralded as a solid debut, receiving positive ratings from critics. However, despite debuting @ #3 on the Billboards Top 200, it only sold 55,000 copies in its first week. These days, I guess that's pretty decent for a debut artist, especially considering that he's still @ #3 nearly 3 months later pushing for a gold-certification.
However, Kanye West has stayed CONSTANTLY in the public's eye in the past year, especially with the advent of his G.O.O.D. Fridays marketing promotion, the Runaway short-film, the video "painting" of his album's first single "Power" and the controversial Today Show interview. So after all that, MBDTF only @ number 7? Nevertheless, his album is, indeed, still a success (I proudly own a copy of the Deluxe version myself) and it will definitely reach platinum status soon enough. It has been yet another great week for hip-hop!

The most important new message contained in the final report of the presidential commission investigating the gulf oil spill is aimed squarely at Congress: If lawmakers hope to win popular support for ramped-up oil drilling in America’s coastal waters then they must make sure that every possible precaution is taken to reduce the chances of another catastrophe like the spill.
The question is whether the newly constituted Congress is in a mood to listen. What the commission is asking for are tough new rules and money to strengthen federal oversight at a time when the House is controlled by politicians who broadly oppose new spending and seem hostile to regulation of any sort.

Coroner: Autopsy Showed Jackson Death A Homicide

LOS ANGELES — The coroner who performed the autopsy on Michael Jackson testified Tuesday that the pop star’s death would have been classified a homicide even if the singer gave himself the final dose of the anesthetic propofol.
Christopher Rogers, chief of forensic medicine for the Los Angeles County coroner, was questioned by a lawyer for Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged with causing Jackson’s death by administering a lethal dose of propofol and other sedatives and failing to provide proper care.

These are very real possibilities people! Our economy is in dire straits and our political system is only worsening it with every bit of legislation as time progresses. The fact that we currently allow insane republicans and the like to have a voice and wield power will be the nation's undoing. We have to stop this madness before we allow the inevitable to occur!
With a $4.7 trillion bailout under their belts and no harm done to their billion-dollar bonuses, don't expect Wall Street bankers to be chastened by the 2008 financial crisis. Below we list eight things to watch out for in 2011 that threaten to rock the financial system and undermine any recovery.
1) The Demise of Bank of America WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is promising to unleash a cache of secret documents from the troubled Bank of America (BofA). BofA is already under the gun, defending itself from multiple lawsuits demanding that the bank buy back billions worth of toxic mortgages it peddled to investors. The firm is also at the heart of the robo-signing scandal, having wrongfully kicked many American families to the curb. If Assange has emails showing that Countrywide or BofA knew they were recklessly abandoning underwriting standards and/or peddling toxic dreck to investors, the damage to the firm could be irreparable.
